Taibu - avatar suggestion by Neomae Taibu - avatar suggestion by Neomae
The greylion told me that he would like to have a new DA avatar. As I had already planned to make a pixel art of him a few weeks ago, I thought I could make a pixel ava for him.
It really was fun! :) However, I'm not that familiar with pixelart, so if you have hints please feel free to tell me.

@ the lion: It's just a suggestion. Just tell me what you think about it or if you'd prefer a drawn avatar or something like that. I'm open for everything!

working time: about 3 hours
made with: PS CS2, tablet

Taibu is
Note: Noone is allowed to use this avatar except for him!

EDIT: made some changes according to 's hints
EDIT 2: made some changes according ot 's hints

such a nice avatar ^_^

I'd suggest you to make his hind leg a bit more darker or make his belly "wider" because the pic looks a bit "flat", as it was just a sort of "third" foreleg. (being an ex-lion king addict I noticed that drawing wide bellies is the best way to make a lion look less flat)

however it's not a big problem, because human eye can recognize that it's a hind leg instead of a foreleg, there won't be misunderstandings. it's just a hint for you if you want to make it look better :-)

Thank you very much. Your hint is really usefull to me. I think you are right. He looks a bit short, indeed. I wasn't sure about the perspective here so I didn't make him longer. What do you think, will making the lion a little longer make the perspective wrong? However, I didn't think of the opportunity to create this effect by making the back part of the lion darker. I'll try it. Thank you very much!

uhm, instead of making him longer I'd suggest you to make his belly "wider", I mean the hind leng should be partially hidden behind the belly
