Hey there guys!

As most of you prabably already know, MGC holds it's last contest this December. Actually this really makes me sad. ... And it made me think.
I know the TV show "Gargoyles" for 11 years now and I'm in touch with the fandom since 2002. And it all has become an important part of my life and me.
Now MGC vanishes.
AMGC is long gone.
2009 was the last Gathering of the Gargoyles.
The DVD-production stopped after Season 2 Vol. 1.
Alhough published as collections neither Clan-Buliding nor Bad Guys did get all issues published as planned - what actually makes me doubt we'll ever see more comics come out.

All this really makes me sad. It almost feels like ..."Gargoyles" is slowly but surely coming to an end and disappears. To me this is a really depressing and somewhat scaring thought. I never ever thought it could be gone one day (I wonder why, but it really never crossed my mind). To me it seemed like all these wonderfull fan-driven projects like the contests, conventions and forums would just go on existing - at least for as long as our generation of fans would exist. Just like it is with Star Wars or Spiderman or such. Now it seems like I was wrong -.-

I guess I just wanted - needed - to talk about these thoughts a little. Or maybe I hoped someone would reply and honestly tell me that "Gargoyles" is still alive and will be for a long time. I don't know.
What are your thoughts and feelings about it? Please share them!

Same here. I became a fan of gargoyles when I was littler like in 1998 or 1999. I don't know about the year but whatever. I regained it when I discovered my long lost favorite character and I discovered it when I both joined DA and looking through artworks. I know someday, in the long run new fans will be doubling or tripling. Again I don't know the statistic results.

Numbers are still growing, I'm a good example, I just recently started liking gargoyles in 2009. It won't die. We can stop Gargoyles from receiving the full axe. It's head will hang by a few tendons tho people, I kid you not. Maybe some day Disney will hand over the license to Gargoyles completely. Maybe one day someone will take huge folder of gargoyle fanart and commissions and smack some of those shareholders with it.

Reading this post makes me very sad, considering I've been a fan for a while. Here and there, I'll come across other fans, or people who have watched the show in the past. Fanbase isn't dead, just shrinking. Greg's still around, answering questions regarding the series on his site. I'm hoping that with Disney's purchase of Marvel, the comics might revive. Until then, there's still a lot of interested folks who'd rather watch this show next to the cartoons on today. Some of them will even get up at 4 in the morning to do it.

I know this is repeating what others have said, but as long as we fans are still around, gargoyles will never disappear into disreguard

I myself have nearly all the shows on VHS thanks to a deal I made with a family friend. Hopefully I'll be able to transfer them onto DVDs eventually, but for now and always they are a treasure :)

Cheer up, hon. They can't stop us from keeping the fandom alive, yes? ;)

Think about it, and know that you aren't alone.

I've been a fan of Gargoyle's since 1996.
Sadly, I have never gotten to go to a convention, I didn't even know about it until about 5 years ago. Money stopped that. Money also prevented me from taking major part in the fandom.

As much as I love the show, I think the stopping of production of the DVD'S was a complete waste of money and time period. The point in makin Season 1 and then Season 2 V.1 AND NOT COMPLETING THEM!...Waste. I guess, in my mind, all I can say/think is..finish what you started!

As for the comics, the "new" ones, I hope to own whatever there is someday.

Anything I had Garg collected, gone..lost to storage (because of my mother), or stolen. I had the Disney Adventures magazines with the comics in them (not all of them, but still). I had, 4 figures that my brother found on clearance at K*B Toys, 2 incomplete figures that I found at goodwill, a few burger king toys I found at some other thrift store. I had a Gargoyles ballcap that glew in the dark! YEAH, I miss my stuff!!! I had the interactive VHS "movie"...the only thing i actually -looked- for, everything else I got by chance. That was about the extent of my collection, but still..it was mine :(

I can understand the economy, and cost of things but..I guess, I don't understand it either. Maybe the Garg Fandom isn't as huge as the Star Wars fandom is.

I'll miss it all too. Really, I will. And, if I ever get a decent sized place to live, with a room I can just stuff all my collectibles in X3, and MONEY..to the point where I can spend here and there a bit and not have to worry about things, I plan on getting a bigger Garg collection!

Until then, I'll just gawk and squee at fanart!

I was having the very same conversation last night. I remember getting on the internet back in 1998 and being so excited that there were so many other fans out there that I could share my love of the gargoyles universe with. It seems like all of it is ending now and it makes me so sad. I wish there was something I could do to re energize the fan base again.

The show still runs, I'm about to go watch it, but maybe it's an economy thing. Hopefully some projects are just on hold till the economy gets better.

Maybe Disney or who ever is currently holding the rights, needs to know it's not a lost cause. Send letters, show art, statues, or what ever. The fans can keep it alive, and with work, we can re-spark the movement.

I've seen many shows and stories I love, just end due to lack of understanding. The creative world is ruled by the uncreative, who think the same old story or flashy attention grabbers are all that matter. No one wants to take the risk any more. Big companies are too interested in what got them there. Risk, hard work, ups and downs.

Garoyles for ever!!!
