I waited over 1 year for submitting this 
This is the December pic for the European Gagoyles fan calendar 2005. I worked on it from August 2004 to November 2004.
I had many different concepts for this picture. In the end it became some kind of experiment. It was the very first picture that I made, where the background played the same important role as the characters. Also it was the very first time that I made a background completely with tablet and computer. At first I was tempted to add fireworks cut out from photographs (especially because I wanted them to look as realistic as possible) but finally I decided to draw them by myself. And in the end I'm very very satisfied with how it turned out
working time: about 20 h
made with: pencil, inking pens, Photoshop 7.0, tablet
